Broken together

Broken souls
Lerking in the shadows
In hopes no one notices
Our rough edges

The funny thing is…

The ones with whom we lerk,
Broken too,
Are the ones that ultimately
Help us mend

You see…

Looking down
At our own broken pieces
Often seems
Like an overwhelming puzzle

Having someone else
See our shattered mess
From a new perspective
Can shed transforming light

And then…

Just like that
Being broken isn’t so bad
For when two broken souls come together
Life need not be lived in the shadows

Having someone else
Accept you, rough edges and all,
Is actually quite amazing —
Souls no longer broken alone

Broken together

This piece is dedicated to all of you gracious enough to take the time to read my work, offer encouragement, provide inspiration, and accept the bits and pieces of me I have placed on the display for the world to see. You’ve been kind, and I sincerely appreciate the love you’ve extended as you help me mend.  Thanks for accepting me, rough edges and all

    1. Hmm, indeed. 🙂
Funny how the things we thought would break up only make us stronger… Opening our minds, forcing us to look up and climb through the window when all doors are closed. Climbing out to freedom — to bigger and better things.

I guess one can choose to see ‘rough edges’ as battle scars — Something to be admired — something to be proud of!

  1. Happy to be broken together, dear friend. Every rough edge is beautiful and every piece we puzzle over together lets us know we aren’t alone. Be blessed today! 🙂

    1. Ah, beautifully said!
Glad to have discovered you here. Appreciate your friendship. Hugs. Be blessed today also 🙂

  2. We are all broken in places, my friend. It’s just that some hide their brokenness better than others. I love what Ernest Hemingway once said: “The world breaks everyone, and afterwards some are strong at the broken places.” Hugs from one strong broken person to another. 🙂 ❤
