I’ll ship you to China!!!

That high-pitched, whiny voice —
The kind that equals
The sound of nails
Scratching across a chalk board.

Yes, if you have kids
Or spend time around them,
You know exactly what I mean —
The whining never ends!

I found myself thinking recently,
“Oh, what a wonderful
three-day weekend
I’m about to have!”

But then, that being only Friday
And my 4yr old
Having started her ‘whine-fest’
Since that Wednesday,
I assumed that by the end of the weekend
I’d have ripped my ears off,
And been happily deaf
In attempts to never hear
Such horrible sounds again!

I could have distracted myself
By listing all the amazing things
I love about her,
But I couldn’t seem to find them
Amid all the whining.

Nothing seemed to satisfy her
And my threats of
Shipping her to China
Were then replaced by my desire
To flee there myself.

Why China?
Well that’s a long story —
A running gag at my house
Between me and my dog.

Whenever doggie misbehaves,
I tell her,“I’ll ship you to China!”
She usually leaves the room
As if my threats were understood.

Then I laugh,  as I know
How wrong I am to tease her so.
So now, in jest,
Everyone gets shipped to China.

But those are empty threats of course,
What do I do about the reality
Of my ‘darling’ child?
All this whining — I can’t stand it!

But, then again,
Seems like I am now whining too.
Oh the irony!!!
What are you all going to do with me?

Should I beg for mercy?
Or should I simply
Pack my bags and prepare
To be shipped to China?

The Happiness Tag

Image source: Digital Art by Moylom Enterprises

Hi friends,

I’ve just been nominated by M over at https://emotionsoflife2016.wordpress.com/2016/ to do the happiness tag.

Thank you so much for nominating me. I’m extremely honored. Please check out his awesome blog.

In case you haven’t heard about the tag yet, the rules are simple:

1. Name 5 things that make you happy
2. Name 5 songs that make you happy
3. Nominate 5 bloggers to continue the tag

5 Things that make me Happy–

1 . Being a mom: I wanted to give to my kids the things and love I never got in my childhood. Unfortunately, I missed out on a portion of that with my older kids (now 19 and 21), so now I’m making up for all that loss with my munchkin (now 4).  I’m happy to be given a second chance of sorts. I see it as a huge blessing.

2 . Nature – Immersing myself in nature allows me to feel free while being grounded enough to know that I am but a spec in the master plan of the Creator.

3 . Music– All kinds/genres speak to me in different ways. I can’t survive without music. It fuels me, soothes me, heels me, elevates me, excites me, speaks to me.

4 . God– without Him one can’t truly be happy. God is love, He is peace, He is my safe haven, my anchor, my strength. He is the only one who can give us joy. It is when we understand the magnitude of His love do we fully comprehend how amazing it is just to be alive. With joy comes contentment and one’s heart is simply full and overflowing. One cannot contain such joy it must be shared.

5. Love – without love existence on this earth would be cold and meaningless. Love was not meant to be contained but shared. Love makes me happy and I can’t help but want that happiness for others as well.

5 Songs that make me Happy-

I actually have a Playlist called “Happy.Dance” so here are 5 songs from that list:

1 . Let It Out by Switchfoot

2 . Thank God For Something by Hawk Nelson

3.  Hey Mama by Mat Kearney

4 . Gang of Rhythm by Walk Off the Earth

5 . Til The Day I Die by TobyMac

Since Inner Ramblings Boulevard just participated in the Liebster Award challenge, I’ve decided not to select nominees this time,  instead I’ll let anyone reading this who wants to participate feel free to do so. Just link back to this post so I know you’ve decided to play along.

Hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about me. Have a great week!
