Silhouettes of her life…

Silhouettes of her life
Slip by in the spaces
Between shadows and light.

He wonders why she always
Stares off into the distance,
As if looking for something.

She wonders if the past
Is out there lurking
Waiting to pounce viciously.

He tries to shift her focus —
Offer her comfort and safety
But sometimes she still wonders.

She looks into his eyes
And sees a future —
With him she’s happy.

He knows her past
And knows how much she’s been hurt,
But sees her emotional growth.

She’s still a bit fragile,
Occasionally distracted by those silhouettes
But he’s been wonderful to her,  she is loved.

He holds her hand,
He guards her soul with his own,
He knows she’s ready to love again.

    1. Wow, thank you for such a thoughtful comment. Love when readers take things apart for hidden meanings. That’s exactly how my brain works. ☺ 🌷

  1. It’s rare to find any person who sticks by people going through issues. When I read about such guys, there seems to be hope.
