Sing to me Julio!

Hello beautiful people!

I’m grateful to have made it to another day and I hope you are too. ☺

My thoughts have been a little scattered lately. Many major changes are in progress, but I always enjoy connecting with you lovely folks out there in blog land. It’s a nice change of pace from all the chaos in my head. All the sweet sentiments, humor and intelligence, I discover on a daily basis certainly keeps me occupied and stimulated in a positive way. Thank you all for being a part of my world, you are all appreciated!

I’m chillin’ with Julio today. Too busy to look up the meaning of his lyrics as I’m being twirled on the dance floor by a handsome gentleman to this amazing song (I wish!). Hope it takes you to a happy place too, enjoy! 🌷

Inside my head…

image

The Event:
My phone lights up, vibrates, pings, dings — notifications galore!

Me:
Who are these people and what do they want?

My brain:
Well, don’t you have a blog?
They are your followers.

Me:
Followers?
Why are people following me around?
That’s a little creepy!

My brain:
Well isn’t that the whole point of a blog?
They follow you so they keep track regularly of what you have to say.

Me:
Why in the world would anyone want to know what I said? Words just falls out of my head and my fingers catch them and place them nicely into sentences n stuff!

My brain:
Sentences n stuff? Yeah, well, when you put it like that I really can’t see why anyone would follow you around, they’ll be tripping over a mess all the time!

Me:
Exactly!
Wait.
What?
Did you just insult me?

My brain:
Well I thought you wouldn’t notice with all the words falling out of your head n stuff!

Me:
Thanks! You sure are a piece of work!

My brain:
Gee, thanks! A work of art is what I like to call myself. How nice of you to notice!

Me:
Seriously? Don’t you have somewhere to go? Why don’t you go be ‘Wonky’ or something?

My brain:
Ouch, that hurts!
Here I am being alert and interactive for a change and you’re wishing I was ‘wonky’?
Hmm, I bet the next time when I AM being ‘wonky’ you’d be wishing I was alert. There’s no pleasing you!

Me:
Well I like alert and I like productive but the insults and sarcasm are a bit much.

My brain:
Alright, alright, I’m sorry. Guess I’m just in a fiesty mood today. Forgive me?

Me:
Sure…
I apologize for wishing ‘wonkyness’ upon you and you can stay, but can you tone down the sarcasm?

My brain:
Yep. Done.

Me:
So nice to be on good terms with you. Now back to the blog… Do people really like reading my stuff?

My brain:
Of course, you’re a freaking genius! Why else would they be following you around?

Me:
Gee, thanks!
Wait.
A genius?
Is that more sarcasm?

My brain:
Umm, I’m feeling a bit ‘wonky’ right now, what were we talking about again?

Me:
Yeah right,  how convenient! (sigh)
Never mind…

Poetry

What does it mean?

image

Your words dazzle then fizzle
as they hit the floor,
for they are just that,
words, nothing more.

No actions
to bring them to life,
just empty consonants,
and sentences that rhyme.

Vowels and silables,
strung together cleverly,
to amuse, to tease,
to show off creativity.

To conjure emotion;
to mess with the mind;
to elicit some action;
to hook like fish on a line.

A lost fairytale wrapped up
in a cute bow,  given as a gift
to those who don’t care
or even want to know.

So what’s the point
of such coy renditions?
To give air to some sort of
highfoluton sophistication?

To elevate? To chastise?
To encapsulate a thought ?
Or perhaps quite simply
an outlet for wrath?

The things we say
should have some meaning,
not just empty words that hit the floor
as if thrown from the ceiling.

What do your words mean?

Surf’s Up | Summer Fun…

Hi guys,

Woke up today with a song in my head but when I tried to find it I couldn’t. Seems my ‘wonky brain’ has successfully paired the song in my head with the wrong artist. I’m gonna need my blog partner B, the music genius, to help me sort this one out!

Anyway, in my search, I came across a Sugar Ray song I’d never heard before which reminded me of the peace and relief which came ‘after the rain’ — a huge thunderstorm that came through our area a couple days ago.

It’s been sweltering here in NYC for a bit and we definitely needed that rain to take the edge off. Feels great now! So have a listen to my new music discovery, perhaps it too will help take the edge off for you.

Happy Summer, stay cool and have a great day everyone!🌷

Hugs,
A.
