Red Land 7

Red Land 7

***

She traveled
a path of faith.
And though her steps
weren’t always perfect,
she pressed on,
for she was blessed!
She chose to see beauty.
She chose to be thankful.
She followed her destiny
to the place she called
‘Red Land’.

Finding someone to blame

He blamed me
for someone else’s mistake.
I couldn’t help him
in the way he wanted.

He eluded to me doing something
I wasn’t authorized to do.
I tried to help him in a different way
but he was more intent on being upset.
He left.

He expected me to do my job
and someone’s too.
I have no interest in appeasing
someone who is disrespectful.
I have no delight
in condoning bad behavior.

I am strong enough
to take responsibility
for my own mistakes,
but I am always striving
for balance and fairness.

What happened today
was not fair to me
but it won’t deter my resilience.
I will always pursue excellence.

How do I explain
the error of another
to someone who is convinced
it was my fault?

It begs to question,
did he really want to be helped,
or was he just
in the mood to be angry?
Perhaps be was angry
for an entirely different reason
and took his frustration out on me.

Perhaps he was just a ‘trial’
sent to test me
on an otherwise easy day.
I stood my ground and kept my cool.
In the end it was a great day!

Water Fountain 33

IMG_20190404_003054_591.jpg

***

The water fountain
stood in silence
on a cold winter’s day,
seemingly lonely without
its usual feathered companions.

I stared sympathetically
for a moment,
as if lost
in my own loneliness.

Its curves,
once supple
with free-flowing water
of warmer months,
were instead
adorned with a gown
of crystallized snow.

Suddenly,
my focus shifted,
as the boldness
of its beauty
captivated
my entire being.

It was radiant!
I was in awe
of its magnificence
yet humbled
by the simplicity
of the message
the moment conveyed.

Even though our lives
are richly blessed
by those around us,
we are still
amazing,
wonderful beings
on our own.

Sometimes,
a little alone time
is just what we need
to explore other aspects
of our unique personality.

Be authentic.
Be brave.
Be you!

Choosing To Trust 27

***

It’s not what you have,
but what you do
with what you’ve been given
that really matters!

Choosing to trust
that your heavenly Creator
has blessed you
with what you need ‘right now’,
is the foundation
for a beautiful life
in the future.

Choose to see
the blessings.
Choose to trust
the Omniscient One.

I choose joy

I’ve gone the way
of telling myself
that this life I’m creating
will lead to freedom
and less stress.

I toil at a job,
glaze-eyed and half present,
daydreaming to be on a beach
pursuing my true passion.

To work from anywhere
is my deepest desire,
not tied to a zip code, building
or unscrupulous managers.

Earning a living
doing what I love,
working smart, not hard,
the reverse of my life now.

Self talk says, “Stick with it,
you’ve got what it takes!”
My prayers go up to heaven
for guidance and grace.

Setting a positive example
for my offspring to emulate,
my youngest has taken flight,
her own creative journey awaits.

Captivated by the wisdom
her young life shines on mine,
I laugh at her antics
as I cease toiling for awhile.

“Pick me up! Pick me up!” she begs,
“Please? Pretty please?”
“Oh darling I fear
you’re getting too big for such treats!”

But I oblige her one more time
as I know very well,
these moments are fleeting,
time does not stand still.

The joy I find,
as I gaze upon her smile,
brings me back to my purpose
of seeking a new life.

Self talk says,” stick with it,
no turning back my friend!”
In your search for freedom
you’ve found joy times ten!
