Finding someone to blame

He blamed me
for someone else’s mistake.
I couldn’t help him
in the way he wanted.

He eluded to me doing something
I wasn’t authorized to do.
I tried to help him in a different way
but he was more intent on being upset.
He left.

He expected me to do my job
and someone’s too.
I have no interest in appeasing
someone who is disrespectful.
I have no delight
in condoning bad behavior.

I am strong enough
to take responsibility
for my own mistakes,
but I am always striving
for balance and fairness.

What happened today
was not fair to me
but it won’t deter my resilience.
I will always pursue excellence.

How do I explain
the error of another
to someone who is convinced
it was my fault?

It begs to question,
did he really want to be helped,
or was he just
in the mood to be angry?
Perhaps be was angry
for an entirely different reason
and took his frustration out on me.

Perhaps he was just a ‘trial’
sent to test me
on an otherwise easy day.
I stood my ground and kept my cool.
In the end it was a great day!

Worth saving…

Confused,
she attempted to let go
of a situation she couldn’t comprehend.

Uncertain,
she pondered the reason
for her presence in his life.

Frustrated,
she questioned if what they had
was worth saving.

Relieved,
he asked her to be patient,
to give him a little more time.

Surprised,
he held on tighter
than she thought he ever would.

Elated,
she was comforted to know
he cared enough to ask her to stay.

Gazing at your eyes

Running my fingers
through your hair…

Tracing the outline
of your dimpled cheeks…

Gazing at your eyes
as they stare into mine…

Watching that seductive smile
grow across your lips…

Knowing you’re about to do
something rediculously amazing…

You get me every time…

I like it here…

I like it here…
The atmosphere is mellow,
I can relax and breathe slow,
I can converse one on one.
I can chill and enjoy the ride.

I like it here…
I’m myself again.
The hurt has turned to healing.
The sadness has turned to laughter.
The heartache has been replaced by butterflies.

I like it here…
It feels great to ‘start fresh’.
It feels great to forget the past.
It feels great to be by your side.
It feels great to make fantasies real.

I like it here…
There’s peace, there’s laughter;
There’s fun, there’s intense passion;
There’s a melding of our minds;
There’s us wanting more of each other.

I like it here…
I feel comfortable on your arms.
I light up when I see your smile.
I see hope when I look in your eyes.
I am blessed to have you in my life.

Depth.
Our conversations
should be meaningful
deeper than just the surface.

Worth.
Our values should go beyond
the man-made idols we create.
Melancholy regret
should be something
we try to avoid
as we strive in earnest
to learn from our past mistakes.

Respect.
In order to respect each other,
we must first respect
the Creator who made us.
He gave us guidelines
for how we should treat
our fellow man.
No one should be made
to feel like a toy —
played with then discarded
when the amusement dwindles.

Balance.
Be fair, it’s that simple!
What’s good for you
should also be good for me.
Entitlement is the reward
of effort and input.
Words and actions
should be in sync.
A gift given from the heart
should not come
with strings attached.
Let reciprocity be free
and not pressured.

Love.
Show me your heart
as I will show you…

Food on Friday # 42 California

I have a 4 yr old and she’s a picky eater. Needless to say, I’m always searching for new food ideas we can both try and hopefully love. I’ve even gone as far as to institute ‘Fun Food Weekend’ at my house, which means she has to try a new food when it’s the weekend. During the week she can stick to the things she likes (because quite frankly, I don’t have the time or energy to fight with her over food), but come weekends we experiment! So far my new strategy has been working well and she is putting up less of a fight. Yay!!!

I always enjoy reading Jack’s ‘Food on Friday’ posts, because I get many great ideas for new foods and I’m sure you’d love to get in on the action too. So that’s enough chatter from me, let’s jump into his selections for this week. Enjoy! 🌷

Don’t get me wrong, I like California, but sometimes the food there owes a lot to everywhere else.  So, for this week’s Food on Friday I’ve tried to come up with some dishes that I think would go down well with my friend, ‘the girl riding shotgun’ and especially dishes that aren’t so Mexican or Spanish in flavour.

No, that didn’t make much sense to me either.  But here are some great recipes from some great cooks.

First up this week, from we have this hoisin salmon with zucchini slaw from Tieghan Gerard at Half Baked Harvest.

Also from Tieghan there’s this great looking heirloom tomato and zucchini galette with honey and thyme.

A bit of morning inspiration from a new follower I had to share with you. Enjoy! 🌷

Showcase Reblog: February 25 2017

Writing is Communication

Here are 7 inspirational parenting quotes that I really enjoyed and wanted to share with you. There was something about each one of them that rang true. I hope you enjoy them, and if you have any others to share please add them in the comment section below.

“My children are the reason I laugh, smile and want to get up every morning.” – Gena Lee Nolin

“What it’s like to be a parent: It’s one of the hardest things you’ll ever do but in exchange it teaches you the meaning of unconditional love.” – Nicholas Sparks, The Wedding

“If I had my child to raise over again: I’d build self-esteem first and the house later. I’d finger paint more and point the finger less. I would do less correcting and more connecting. I’d take my eyes off my watch and watch with my eyes. I would care to know…
