Mesmerized 35

***

He was mesmerized
by her beauty
and gave her
whatever she wanted.

She was mesmerized
by his wealth
and pretended
to love him.

Sadly,
neither were happy
because
money cannot buy love.

In mourning

The details have yet to be absorbed…
One fact still remains, he’s insane!
He’s always been, I just didn’t know it.
How could I have been so blind?

I sit here mourning the loss of a thought…
How absurd of me to desire freedom!
Til death do us part are the words we swore.
So I guess that’s how our story must end.

I don’t know what chapter of our book I’m in.
Six years of misery and pain, praying for an end.
A nervous wreck, an emotional mess…
Starving to be truly loved…

Choosing a path worth traveling…
Sacrifices to make for our safety.
Challenges to overcome, seeking strength.
Claiming the victory in Jesus’ name.

Worth saving…

Confused,
she attempted to let go
of a situation she couldn’t comprehend.

Uncertain,
she pondered the reason
for her presence in his life.

Frustrated,
she questioned if what they had
was worth saving.

Relieved,
he asked her to be patient,
to give him a little more time.

Surprised,
he held on tighter
than she thought he ever would.

Elated,
she was comforted to know
he cared enough to ask her to stay.

Gazing at your eyes

Running my fingers
through your hair…

Tracing the outline
of your dimpled cheeks…

Gazing at your eyes
as they stare into mine…

Watching that seductive smile
grow across your lips…

Knowing you’re about to do
something rediculously amazing…

You get me every time…

I like it here…

I like it here…
The atmosphere is mellow,
I can relax and breathe slow,
I can converse one on one.
I can chill and enjoy the ride.

I like it here…
I’m myself again.
The hurt has turned to healing.
The sadness has turned to laughter.
The heartache has been replaced by butterflies.

I like it here…
It feels great to ‘start fresh’.
It feels great to forget the past.
It feels great to be by your side.
It feels great to make fantasies real.

I like it here…
There’s peace, there’s laughter;
There’s fun, there’s intense passion;
There’s a melding of our minds;
There’s us wanting more of each other.

I like it here…
I feel comfortable on your arms.
I light up when I see your smile.
I see hope when I look in your eyes.
I am blessed to have you in my life.

Do you not know where your mouth is?

image

She spills her food.
I ask jokingly,
“Do you not know
where your mouth is?”
She looks at me upstartedly saying,
“Yes I do!!!”

This has been a running gag
at my house for some time.
The expression on her face
is usually priceless.

So here I sit alone,
savoring her absence
and my midday breakfast,
sipping my coffee left-handedly.

Oops! There’s a spill!
So I ask myself jokingly,
“Do you not know
where your mouth is?”
I chuckle to myself as I respond,
“Yes I do!”

Missing Nina

image

Clenched in her fist
She held the red pendant
Given to her
By her best friend Nina.

The memories of
Their childhood fun together
Flooded her mind endlessly.
She was motionless.

How sad to think
Her best friend was now gone!
Such a beautiful spirit.
Such an independent soul.

The funeral was just 2 hours away.
She still had no clue what to say.
A eulogy? How inappropriate!
Nina visits her all the time.

They sit and talk and laugh for hours.
To her, Nina was very much alive.
How does one speak of someone
Who is alive as if they were dead?

“Mary honey, it’s time to go say goodbye…”
“OK mom, I’ll be right there!”
Mary walked into the chapel
And stood at the opening of the casket.

There, in a beautiful pink dress,
Laid her childhood friend.
Leaning in close,
Mary kissed her cheek.

Then, she whispered in Nina’s ear,
“How do I speak of you
Without using the phrase
I see dead people?”

There was a knock on the door…

Jack:
Mary, you’ve been
locked in there for ages.
Please let me in?
Can we please take about this?
Mary please let me explain?

Mary had been crying for so long that she drifted off to sleep. She hadn’t thought about her friend Nina much since she left Missouri. She needed to get away from her problems for a while. Perhaps it was time to pay Nina’s grave a visit.
