Boys vs Men

Their attraction turned to conversations.

Their conversations turned to glances.

Their glances turned to smiles.

Their smiles turned to closeness.

Their closeness turned to touch.

Their touch turned to warm embraces.

Their warm embraces turned to anticipation.

Their anticipation turned to desire.

Their desire turned to love.

Their love turned to ‘his’ fear.

His fear turned to his flight.

His flight turned to his disappearance.

His disappearance turned to her disgust of men!

Poetry

Disheveled and broken

She stared off
into the distance,
emotionally disheveled
and broken.

She was numb.
All that time…
All that effort…
All that money…
For what?

It all seemed so unfair!
He won.
She lost.
She had already
lost so much.
This was too much to bear.

The tears trickled at first.
The words,
forced to break through
trembling lips,
were incomprehensible.
She had to repeat herself.

He,
the one to whom she entrusted
her last chance at freedom,
had failed her.
His coldness was unforgivable.

He seemed almost indifferent.
He didn’t seem to accept
any responsibility
for any of this.

He made her
carry this burden alone.
How could it all
end like this?

To whom must she turn now?
How will she ever
find the strength
to start all over again?

The pain pierced through
every layer of her being!
The agony consumed her!

In mourning

The details have yet to be absorbed…
One fact still remains, he’s insane!
He’s always been, I just didn’t know it.
How could I have been so blind?

I sit here mourning the loss of a thought…
How absurd of me to desire freedom!
Til death do us part are the words we swore.
So I guess that’s how our story must end.

I don’t know what chapter of our book I’m in.
Six years of misery and pain, praying for an end.
A nervous wreck, an emotional mess…
Starving to be truly loved…

Choosing a path worth traveling…
Sacrifices to make for our safety.
Challenges to overcome, seeking strength.
Claiming the victory in Jesus’ name.

The Wrong Answer

image

Jack:
I took too long to answer?
What does that mean?

Mary:
The devil is in the details,  Jack,
I’m not an idiot!
It’s one thing to admit you think
That she or any woman is attractive,
That’s normal,  you’re human.
But it’s something else entirely
When you can’t exercise self control.
If you don’t know where to draw the line
With your playfulness
Then you’re setting yourself up
For problems!

Jack:
What do you mean?

Mary:
Well, a woman who knows
You have a girlfriend
Just put a love note in your pocket.
She’s either a home wrecker by nature
Or was given the impression by you that
a) you’re not happy in your relationship at home or
b) you don’t mind having something extra on the side.

Jack:
Geez Mary,
Why in the world would I do that?
I love you, I value our relationship,
I have no need for anyone else.
I was just playing around!

Mary:
OK Jack, then answer me this,
Does she know you have a girlfriend?

Jack:
Umm, I’m not sure.
It never really came up!

Mary:
WRONG ANSWER, JACK !
That right there is why
She thinks she has a chance!
You’re acting like you’re single
When you’re not.
Why would you do that?

Agony Of Love Series, Short Stories

Blindsided…

image

She didn’t sleep a wink that night;
Her insides were twisted up in knots.
All night the words she read
Haunted her every being.

She couldn’t believe what was happening,
How was it that someone
Who said he loved her so much
Could hurt her this badly — So carelessly?

The agony was unreal!
So much for openness and honesty.
Her heart was aching.
She didn’t know what to do.
