Choosing To Trust 27

***

It’s not what you have,
but what you do
with what you’ve been given
that really matters!

Choosing to trust
that your heavenly Creator
has blessed you
with what you need ‘right now’,
is the foundation
for a beautiful life
in the future.

Choose to see
the blessings.
Choose to trust
the Omniscient One.

Depth.
Our conversations
should be meaningful
deeper than just the surface.

Worth.
Our values should go beyond
the man-made idols we create.
Melancholy regret
should be something
we try to avoid
as we strive in earnest
to learn from our past mistakes.

Respect.
In order to respect each other,
we must first respect
the Creator who made us.
He gave us guidelines
for how we should treat
our fellow man.
No one should be made
to feel like a toy —
played with then discarded
when the amusement dwindles.

Balance.
Be fair, it’s that simple!
What’s good for you
should also be good for me.
Entitlement is the reward
of effort and input.
Words and actions
should be in sync.
A gift given from the heart
should not come
with strings attached.
Let reciprocity be free
and not pressured.

Love.
Show me your heart
as I will show you…

The Unsettling Silence

image

He enters the room.
He says little or nothing.
His smile seems fake — always.
I often wonder what he’s thinking.
He may just be a man of little words
Or simply a man who is slow to trust.
Either way,  his silence is unsettling.

Can’t get enough of you…

image

Your lips are moving
But I’m the only one
who can hear you.
See, you’re a memory
Floating around inside my head.

Your voice registers
Deep within my soul
As the video of you
Replays in a continuous loop.

I’m holding on
To the memory of you
As tight as I can
Because I simply can’t get
Enough of the song
you create within me.

This is what I crave…

Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes! – that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.
