Inside my head…

The Event:
My phone lights up, vibrates, pings, dings — notifications galore!

Me:
Who are these people and what do they want?

My brain:
Well, don’t you have a blog?
They are your followers.

Me:
Followers?
Why are people following me around?
That’s a little creepy!

My brain:
Well isn’t that the whole point of a blog?
They follow you so they keep track regularly of what you have to say.

Me:
Why in the world would anyone want to know what I said? Words just falls out of my head and my fingers catch them and place them nicely into sentences n stuff!

My brain:
Sentences n stuff? Yeah, well, when you put it like that I really can’t see why anyone would follow you around, they’ll be tripping over a mess all the time!

Me:
Exactly!
Wait.
What?
Did you just insult me?

My brain:
Well I thought you wouldn’t notice with all the words falling out of your head n stuff!

Me:
Thanks! You sure are a piece of work!

My brain:
Gee, thanks! A work of art is what I like to call myself. How nice of you to notice!

Me:
Seriously? Don’t you have somewhere to go? Why don’t you go be ‘Wonky’ or something?

My brain:
Ouch, that hurts!
Here I am being alert and interactive for a change and you’re wishing I was ‘wonky’?
Hmm, I bet the next time when I AM being ‘wonky’ you’d be wishing I was alert. There’s no pleasing you!

Me:
Well I like alert and I like productive but the insults and sarcasm are a bit much.

My brain:
Alright, alright, I’m sorry. Guess I’m just in a fiesty mood today. Forgive me?

Me:
Sure…
I apologize for wishing ‘wonkyness’ upon you and you can stay, but can you tone down the sarcasm?

My brain:
Yep. Done.

Me:
So nice to be on good terms with you. Now back to the blog… Do people really like reading my stuff?

My brain:
Of course, you’re a freaking genius! Why else would they be following you around?

Me:
Gee, thanks!
Wait.
A genius?
Is that more sarcasm?

My brain:
Umm, I’m feeling a bit ‘wonky’ right now, what were we talking about again?

Me:
Yeah right,  how convenient! (sigh)
Never mind…

Surf’s Up | Summer Fun…

Hi guys,

Woke up today with a song in my head but when I tried to find it I couldn’t. Seems my ‘wonky brain’ has successfully paired the song in my head with the wrong artist. I’m gonna need my blog partner B, the music genius, to help me sort this one out!

Anyway, in my search, I came across a Sugar Ray song I’d never heard before which reminded me of the peace and relief which came ‘after the rain’ — a huge thunderstorm that came through our area a couple days ago.

It’s been sweltering here in NYC for a bit and we definitely needed that rain to take the edge off. Feels great now! So have a listen to my new music discovery, perhaps it too will help take the edge off for you.

Happy Summer, stay cool and have a great day everyone!🌷

Hugs,
A.

Anatomy Quiz: Answers and winners

image

Hello all,
Yesterday’s Anatomy Quiz asked,

“What part of my body do I refer to as ‘wonky’?”

Here are the answers we got:
– Upper arm
– Buttocks
– Head
– Willy (lol)

Here is the correct answer:
My brain.

Why? My memory is awful. It’s awful I tell yah!!! But guess what? I accept that! Chances are I won’t remember your name unless I see it in writing but that’s OK I’ll remember something significant about you that sticks with me for life!

For example, I will remember the date of birth of all my children, but don’t bother asking how much they weighed at birth, my brain discards that information as trivial and concludes that I can easily put such detail in a cute scrapbook to pass on to them at a later date, at which they can choose to be pleased or horrified!

In a nutshell, there are things I will not remember when I want to, but there are other things I simply never forget.

I’m not happy about how my memory operates but I’ve learned that making light of it is way more fun than worrying. So get used to it people, I have a wonky brain — brilliant in some areas but terrible with memory!

Luckily, I have many workarounds to make life easier such as:
– Google calendar (to remember important dates and appointments)
– Google Keep (for personal notes)
– Blogging (to record my writing)
– Humor (to help me apologize for whatever I forget)

By writing things down and having an easy retrieval system as those mentioned above my ‘wonky brain’ and I can live happily ever after.

Thanks to those of you who played along this week, it’s been fun interacting with all of you. Stay tuned for a new quiz next week!

Here is this week’s quiz winner:

Brenda over at https://cyberneticblonde.com/

Her answer was head.
Although brain is the actual word I use, I’ll give her points for giving the best answer.

Prize:
Brenda, you lucky lady, instead of 2 spots for the correct answer, you’ve instead secured 1 spot for closest answer. Welcome back for another chance to showcase your work in my weekend blog schedule aka ‘Showcase Reblog’.

As I browse your blog (again) for items to share , this gives me the opportunity to spend some special time getting to know more about you. Yay!!!

Thank you all for stopping by, without you there would be no Inner Ramblings Boulevard and for this we are sincerely grateful.

Best wishes and big hugs.

A.

‘Wonky Brain’ meets ‘Music Genius’ …

Hi guys,

Remember a couple days ago,  when I woke up with a song in my head but my ‘Wonky Brain’ had paired it with the wrong artist? Well I had to consult my blog partner B,  the music genius, for help with this one.

I only knew one line and wasn’t quite sure if that was also the name of the song so I sang it to him. In less than 5 seconds B blurted out the correct artist, Smash Mouth, not Sugar Ray, and gave my ‘Wonky Brain’ a much needed break. Whew, what a relief! Thanks B!!! ‘Wonky Brain’ meets ‘Music Genius’!!! 😀

So without further ado, here’s that pesky song. Hope it’s one of your favorites too. Enjoy!

Hugs,
A.
