He left her pale and static…

image

She rose from what seemed
Like an eternal slumber.
Peering out the window
Into black night,
She wished for a full moon.

An unusual stillness
Permeated the air
Fueling her uneasiness.
A chill ran through her.

Suddenly, the floorboards
Creaked in the distance,
Calling her attention
To the possibility
Of an intruder.

She froze,
Reluctant to move,
For fear of calling
Attention to herself.
She felt defenseless!

She scanned the room
For a possible weapon,
Only to discover
Her pale, unclothed body
Laying static in the bed.

How could this be?

Damn Fine Lemonade

image

I haven’t been in much of a creative mood lately. My mind is swamped with planning for a major event which is now only 8 days away. And of course,  when it rains it pours,  so toss in a few unexpected circumstances which left me pretty pissed off and yep,  my brain has chosen to run away from all the madness. No creative juices flowing today just good old ‘venting‘!

Sometimes I fantasize of a grand vacation,  just enjoying the surf, sand, cocktails, good music, shopping, good company and being pampered for a few glorious days. But of course I’d have to be a Ms Delilah Fox or a Mr Byron Belle,  because ain’t no such niceties happening to this gal anytime soon. All I see ahead is work, work, work! No rest, no vacation, just hustle!

Funny thing is, if I were to actually meet someone named Delilah Fox or Byron Belle they’d probably be in their own personal hell and wishing they were someone else. Go figure!

See,  life is complicated no matter who you are,  and as much as we’d like to think ‘the grass is greener on the other side’,  in reality it’s not! We can either choose to live in the moment, making a damn fine lemonade with those lemons life has tossed us, or we can gripe about the fact that lemons are sour wishing we had apples instead.  Hey, some apples are sour you know, better be careful what you wish for!

So, this is my life. I’ve accepted my mountain
truckload basket of lemons and I’ll be looking up new lemon recipes whenever I get tired of lemonade as I plan on making the best of this life I’ve been given. Hands up if you’re with me! ☺

Thanks as always for stopping by. Sometimes I have to write to cleanse my system. Writing is my therapy! Thanks for listening. Happy Monday to all of you!

Hugs,
A🌷

Hogs and Cigarettes

Lyrics

1st verse:
The hog is his ‘lady’,
He stares at her with loving eyes.
She sits there waiting for his company,
Wanting him to take her for a ride.

2nd verse:
In his eyes she’s beautiful,
She’s the best girl he’s ever had.
And when he’s with her he’s in heaven
Just his ‘lady’ and the open road.

Chorus:
But at night she cries,
But at night she cries,
Because he leaves her all alone outside
And has a cigarette, keeping him warm inside.

3rd verse:
When morning comes she happy,
She can’t wait to see his smiling face.
She feels his touch on her body,
Her engine revs as her fuel fills her veins.

4th verse:
Then he climbs on board his ‘lady’,
Ready to share the miles hand-in-hand,
And as they race along the highway,
She’s wishing this day never ends.

Chorus:
Because at night she cries,
Because at night she cries,
He keeps leaving her all alone outside,
And has a cigarette, keeping him warm inside.

Bridge:
In a perfect world she’s all he needs.
In a perfect world their life is sweet.
In a perfect world he never leaves.
He never leaves.

Chorus:
But at night she cries,
But at night she cries,
Because he leaves her all alone outside,
And has a cigarette, keeping him warm inside.

Chorus:
But at night she cries,
But at night she cries,
Because he leaves her all alone outside,
And has a cigarette, keeping him warm inside.

Only one castle will remain

image

Sky-scrapers fall.
Beach houses wash away.
Country cottages rot.
Dessert huts burn.
City apartments are temporary.
But yet YOUR castle remains.

You are Lord of ALL.
Your foundation withstands.
Your truths endure.
Your WORD never waivers.
When all else fails YOUR castle stands.
In the ‘end’ only one castle will remain.

****
This post was inspired by a writing challenge to choose any two words from a specific list and use them in the title of my poem. I chose to use ‘one’ and ‘castle’ for this piece.
